Colt Model 1878 double action frontier revolver in .44-40 caliber with desirable frontier six shooter marking which is roll die marked and of a later date. This revolver shows a 7 ½” barrel with gray patina finish and checkered wood grips, serial number 26809. The metal surfaces show some light cleaning long ago and some minor pitting and erosion. The barrel address, caliber markings and rampant colt are all visible and one or 2 screws have been replaced. The ejector rod housing screw has been marred. The grips show even wear with a number 10 on bottom left grip in a style that may be a brand. The front sight has been slimmed slightly. The action is working but not holding on full cock and the bore is fair to good. Est.: $900-$1,800.
