Colt Model 1878 Frontier Six Shooter Double Action Revolver with Factory Letter
According to the included Colt factory letter, this revolver was shipped to Hartley & Graham of New York City on April 13, 1893, as part of a 3 gun order. Excluding the "Not Listed" grips, the letter verifies all the major features. Fixed sights, with the one line Hartford address on top of the barrel, "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" roll engraved on the left, and the encircled Rampant Colt on the lower left side of the frame. Matching numbers on the frame and cylinder, along with matching assembly numbers on the loading gate and grip strap. Ejector rod head is absent from the rod. Checkered hard rubber birds head grips with the Rampant Colt icons at the tops, enlarged backstrap spur and lanyard ring on the butt.

Very fine, with 70% plus original blue finish, showing light spotting overall, a mixed gray and brown patina forming down the sides of the barrel and on top of the frame, and a dark plum patina on the grip straps. The grips are good as repaired, with a filled-in chip on the right panel, a circular patch on the left panel and light pressure dents. Mechanically fine.
