Colt Model 1878 Double Action Revolver with London Barrel Address in .455 Caliber

This is a fine example of a Colt Model 1878 double action .476 revolver that was manufactured in 1884 and was shipped to Colt's London Agency and is chambered in the very desirable "455 Eley Cal.". This was a standard caliber in England that was very popular as a target round. The revolver has the Colt high polish blue finish with niter blue trigger and hammer top. The revolver has the desirable "bird's head" grip pattern that is fitted with a set of two-piece factory checkered walnut grips without medallions. The back side of each grip is correctly numbered "546". The top of the barrel is roll-stamped in one-line with Colts London Agency markings of "COLT'S PT.F.A.MFG.CO.HARTFORD CT.U.S.A.DEPOT 14. PALL MALL LONDON". The underside of the barrel as well as each flute in the cylinder is stamped with a single British "Crown/GP" and "Crown/V" proof and inspection marks. The left front trigger guard bow is correctly stamped: ".455 CAL/E". The full serial number, "12/546" is stamped in two lines on the butt in front of the casehardened lanyard loop and the rear of the matching cylinder is correctly stamped "546". The loading gate is stamped with the assembly number "886".
