Manufactured in 1897. This particular revolver is pictured on page 300 in the book "Colt's Double Action Revolver, Model of 1878" by Don Wilkerson. Colt factory records indicate that only 14 of these revolvers with a 7 1/2 inch barrel were manufactured in 38 caliber, one was listed as having pearl stocks, one with carved pearl grips and 12 unlisted. This revolver was 1 of 10 shipped to Davis & Keogh on September 8, 1897. Blade front and notch rear sights, the top of the barrel is marked with the one line address, left side "38 COLT" and circled Rampant Colt on the lower left side of the frame. The serial number is marked on the toe of the butt. Fitted with smooth pearl grips.

Condition: Period replated with 95% nickel finish remaining on the barrel and frame, and 70% on the cylinder. The grips a are very fine with a couple of barely noticeable chips. The markings are readable. The action is fine. A solid example of a rare 38 Colt caliber Model 1878 DA revolver.
