Colt Model 1878 DA revolver, .44-40 cal., 7-1/2” etched barrel, nickel finish, period ivory grips, #19493 with lanyard ring and accompanied by a triple loop leather holster and cartridge belt, holster maker marked“Frew & Co., MAKERS, Harrison, Ark.”. This gun is in overall very good + condition showing approx. 55% original nickel finish with some scattered spots of erosion and pinprick pitting, good action, good barreladdress, majority of original etched panel visible, fair bore, classic period ivory grips showing age cracking with edge wear and an old loss to the front lower toe of the right grip; height of front sight has beenreduced. The holster is in overall good condition and is by an important and rare maker from the mid-to-late 1880s era; the cartridge belt is fair to good with some loops having lost their stitching; squaremetal buckle; a great looking rig!
