Colt Model 1873 Single Action Army Revolver, with associated parts, #23333, .45 Colt CF cal., 5'' round barrel marked on top ''Colt's Pt. F.A. Mfg. Co. Hartford, CT U.S.A.'' in one-line early italic font, later ejector rod with crescent-shaped head, 6-shot fluted cylinder, frame with early two-line 1871-1872 patent dates and cylinder pin retaining screw, loading gate stamped with correct batch number ''2012''; steel gripstraps with one-piece ivory grips. Originally mfg'd 1876. A composite gun having a mixture of original and later parts, accompanied by a plastic bag containing an extra cylinder, hammers (2), triggers (2), cylinder rotating pawl, and mainspring (broken). Condition is good as modified and refinished in overall heavy black finish including barrel, cylinder (with light dragline), frame, hammer (with sides polished bright) and gripstraps; the finish seems to have been applied over pitting/roughness, mainly on barrel and frame. The genuine ivory grips display a lovely deep coloration and fit well, with no cracks and two small chips at right side. Action is positive and locks up tightly; bore appears clean with distinct rifling. Est.: $800-$1,200. (Antique)
