Colt Model 1862 Pocket Navy Cartridge Conversion Revolver

Manufactured 1861 and was among the approximately 24,000 revolvers converted to 38 rimfire and centerfire cartridge. This example has the 3 1/2 inch round barrel without an ejector. The top of the barrel is marked with the two-line Hartford address, the left side of the frame is marked with the two-line, two-patent dates and "36 CAL." is on the left trigger guard shoulder. The cylinder is roll engraved with the stagecoach holdup scene and marked "COLTS PATENT/335" with "8153" stamped below it. The complete matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the barrel lug, frame, trigger guard and butt, the wedge is numbered "13955" and writer was unable to remove the barrel to check the cylinder pin number. All nickel finish, standard small post front and hammer notch rear sights and fitted with a smooth one-piece varnished walnut grip.

Excellent, with 95% plus original nickel finish remaining, showing some scattered minor flaking and numerous dings on both sides of the barrel lug. Almost all of the bright niter blue finish remains on the screw heads, The grips are very fine with most of the original varnish remaining showing some lower edge wear, and some scattered minor dents and dings. The cylinder scene and markings are clear. The action is fine.
