Colt Model 1861 Navy Richards-Mason conversion to .38 rim fire caliber in fair to poor condition, serial number 2047. The metal surfaces show light to heavy scattered pitting and erosion. The barrel address and patent dates are visible. There is considerable visible cylinder scene of which at least 30% remains. The wedge screw is missing and the grips have been sanded and cleaned and are now undersized. There is a braised old repair at the top of the back strap where the screw enters the frame on the left side. The frame screws are old replacements as are some small parts. The trigger guard and back strap have been renumbered with hand engraving. Good action and rough bore. An old restoration of an early frontier Navy probably used in Mexico. Est.: $750 -$1,500.
