Colt Model 1860 Fluted Cylinder Army Revolver
Manufactured in 1861, this revolver is one of only about 4,000 Colt Model 1860 Army Revolvers manufactured with the full fluted cylinder. These revolvers appear in the first 8,000 serial numbers and have a four-screw frame with recoil shields cut for an attachable shoulder stock. The revolver is marked with the standard one line New York barrel address, one line cylinder flute patent marking and "COLTS / PATENT" on the left side of the frame. Matching full serial number on the frame, trigger guard, backstrap, cylinder and arbor pin. The barrel and wedge are numbered "2945". Blade front and hammer notch rear sights, and fitted with one piece smooth walnut grip. The consignor notes indicate that a factory letter, which is not available, states this revolver was shipped to General WM. Dennison, Columbus, Ohio, on June 14, 1861.

Good as assembled. The metal surfaces have a silver gray patina with some minor pitting on the barrel, frame and cylinder. The trigger guard retains approximately 40% of the original silver plating, darkened with age in areas. The exposed brass is bright on the front strap from handling and has an aged patina on the balance. The undersized grip has been lightly sanded and refinished, with a few minor dents and a moderate chip on the left heel. The markings are readable. The action is fine.
