Colt Model 1860 Army revolver .44 caliber percussion, U.S. martially marked and remaining in near fine original condition, serial number 142298. The barrel retains 60% to 80% original blue that is evenly thinning and toning. The barrel address is very sharp and the original polish around the front sight is still visible. The bottom of the barrel beneath the ramrod shows brilliant original blue finish. There is some just beginning areas of very minor erosion and minimal pinprick pitting just starting. The cylinder shows a strong 75% to 85% original scene with engagement dates on the edge of cylinder fully visible and a trace of blue on back ring with a couple of safety pins still remaining. The cylinder shows some light erosion and just beginning pinprick pitting at the backs of the cylinder. The frame shows 60% to 70% original case hardening that is drifting at the edges with some still very colorful areas. The hammer shows 50% to 70% darkened case hardening. The ramrod shows 50% to 70% plus case hardening with some bright color. The grips are very good plus to near fine with two visible though slightly light cartouches with just light handling and minor edge wear. All matching visible serial numbers, tight action with bright bore and fine interior. The pistol shows D and H inspections. A strong 8 to 8 ½ on 1 to 10 scale and in untouched original condition the way old collectors like to find them. Est.: $7,000-$14,000.
