U.S. Martial Colt Model 1860 Army Percussion Revolver, #74498, .44 ball, 8'' barrel, blue and case-hardened finish, iron backstrap, brass triggerguard, one-piece cartouched walnut grips, with cursive ''D'' inspector's marks to barrel lug on both sides and to high portion of cylinder and rebated area, as well as block ''H'' inspector's mark behind triggerguard on front strap. Mfg'd 1862. Condition is very good to fine retaining approx. 65% thinning and toning original blue with moderate general overall knackering to barrel assembly. Cartouche is mostly vivid but has thinned somewhat. Cylinder scene is mostly visible with very light pitting at forward edge. Very faint traces of case coloring remain on frame and barrel with all markings crisp and clear. All safety pins are present; touch holes are clear. Grips show darkening near metal surfaces with fractional shrinkage (possibly some very light refinishing from long ago). All visible serial numbers match, including !
wedge. Action is crisp, bore is near excellent. A nice original Martial Army from the early part of the Civil War. Est.: $3,500-$5,000.
