Colt Model 1851 Navy percussion revolver, inscribed on back strap “To Major Hill, 45th Reg’t O.V.I.”, .36 cal., 7-1/2” octagon barrel, blue and case hardened finish, varnished wood grips, #127080. This gun is in overall fine condition showing approx. 75% original blue finish on the barrel and cylinder and approx. 90% original case colors on the frame, hammer and loading lever, traces of silver in protected areas of straps; all matching visible serial numbers including the number “2” over the barrel assembly serial number and under the frame, trigger guard and back strap numbers; very good bore with just a couple areas of pitting; crisp action, sharp markings and fine grips. An excellent Colt ’51 Navy that should be researched as to the military record of Major Hill. From the Richard Wolfe estate. Est.: $5,000-$10,000.
