Manufactured in 1856. Fitted with the scarce German silver blade front dovetailed onto the barrel with the standard hammer notch rear sight. The top barrel flat is marked with the standard early one line New York address, "COLTS PATENT" on the left side of frame, "M" on the left trigger guard shoulder, "T" on the left barrel lug, and the navy battle scene engraved on the cylinder. Matching serial number on the cylinder, barrel, frame, trigger guard and backstrap, with the partial serial number on the loading lever and wedge. The loading lever, frame and hammer were casehardened, the barrel and cylinder blue and the trigger guard and backstrap silver plated brass. Fitted with a one-piece smooth ivory grip. The leather holster is plain and is absent of markings.

Good. The revolver has been cleaned many years ago and has since aged to a smooth gray patina with strong traces of original blue around the wedge (left side). The loading lever retains some flashes of faded case colors on the flat surfaces. The brass retains strong amounts of original silver plating around the trigger guard with the exposed brass beginning to age again. Most of the cylinder engraving remains. The shrunken grip is good with a repair on the right side near the frame and some hairline age cracks. The ivory has a smooth yellow appearance overall. The holster is good with extensive minor age cracking and missing muzzle plug, with the belt loop reattached with leather stitching. There is absent stitching near the muzzle, with remaining stitching tight.
