Colt Model 1849 pocket model with 5” barrel in .31 caliber percussion showing two line New York address with 5 shot cylinder and transition small guard, serial number 103708. The barrel shows an old scroll engraving of a non-factory pattern. The barrel and cylinder show traces of blue going to a brown with some scattered light to moderate erosion and pitting. The barrel address is mostly legible and about 50% to 70% cylinder scene is remaining. The frame, hammer and loading levershow traces of case hardening within a smoky gray patina. The back strap and trigger guard show dark traces of original silver plate. The grips are good with 30% to 40% varnish, small losses at the edges and some slight wear and minor marks. Allmatching visible serial numbers. The action is slightly out of time and sticks occasionally with need of adjustment. An attractive pocket model Colt recently found in Europe probably where it was engraved. Est.: $900-$1800
