Colt Model 1849 pocket model in .31 caliber percussion with 5” barrel, finely Young style scroll engraved, with one-piece ivory grips, serial number 187217. The metal surfaces show some cleaning long ago that has now aged back to a light brown patina. There has been some sharpening and refreshing of markings along with careful restorations. Matching visible serial numbers. The grips are correctly made and show some repairs and are slightly undersized from buffing or cleaning. The action works well and the markings are visible along with the script barrel address that has been restored. The cylinder shows 50% to 70% original scene with some evidence of pitting and some cleaning. A good-looking model 1849 that was probably discovered somewhat rusty and was restored long ago.
