Colt Model 1849  Wells Fargo  Percussion Revolver
Manufactured in 1856, this particular Colt Model 1849 revolver has a three-inch octagon barrel with no provision for a loading lever and small round trigger guard. The revolver is in the correct 1130000 to 119000 serial range for the "Wells Fargo" Model 1849 revolvers without loading levers. The top of the barrel is marked "{ADDRESS SAML COLT / NEW YORK CITY}" . The five-shot cylinder is roll-engraved with the stagecoach holdup scene and "COLTS PATENT / No.113586" (5 restamped) in two panels and "COLTS/ PATENT" is stamped on the left side of the frame. The complete matching serial number is marked on the barrel, frame, (5 restamped on each), trigger guard, backstrap and cylinder, and the wedge and arbor pin are marked with the partial serial number "3586". Fitted with one piece varnished grips. Wells Fargo models are a desirable and highly sought after variation of the Colt Model 1849 pocket series.

Condition: Professionally restored with 99% of the high polished blue, casehardened and silver finishes remaining. There are a few light scratches on the barrel and the silver plating has darkened with age. There are a few light scuffs and scratches on the grip. Markings and cylinder scene are crisp and clear. The action is excellent. A very attractive representaive example of a scarce "Wells Fargo" Colt Model 1849 revolver.
