Colt Model 1849 Pocket Revolver with Unique Unidentified Cartridge Conversion

Manufactured in 1862, this revolver was subsequently converted to the 32 centerfire cartridge. The rear of the cylinder has been milled off and studs added which hold a breech plate in place that has holes for the centerfire hammer. The loading lever has been removed and the holes remain unfilled. An ejector rod has not been added, therefore, the barrel must be removed to load the revolver. The top barrel flat is marked "ADDRESS SAML COLT/HARTFORD CT." flanked by dashes and "COLTS / PATENT" on the left side of the frame. The complete matching serial number is marked on the barrel, frame, cylinder, trigger guard and back strap, with the partial serial number "3906" on the wedge and cylinder pin. The butt is inscribed "R___r". Fitted with a smooth one piece walnut grip.

Good. The metal surfaces have a mottled brown patina with some scattered minor pitting. The trigger guard and back strap retain 60% original silver plating with a dark aged patina on the exposed brass. The grip is good with some lower edge wear, and scattered minor dents and dings. The cylinder scene is partially visible. The markings are clear and the action is fine.
