Colt Mdl SAA Cal .45Colt SN:41865Revolver with 7 1/2" BBL, brown patina finish, wood grips inlaid with "CHV" showing period modifications for "Fancy Shooting". This Colt has had a spur added to trigger guard, sight added to top of frame and backstrap drilled for shoulder stock (wire frame type). This Colt was shipped to Hartley and Graham Colt Ally and Dealer in April of 1880. A signed letter from Wayne L Mort, grandson of "Eddie" Mort, states this Colt was used to murder his grandfather. "Eddie" testified against an outlaw in Tulare County, California about 1902 when this desperado seized Eddie's gun and killed him with it. Eddie Mort had obtained the old pistol from a Marshall near Tucson that had inlaid the grips with his initials "CHV" on one side, Tucson on reverse with "Shot Up" target also inlaid. The pistol is all matching with a brown patina, good action, good bore, goodmarkings, old changed butt screw. An interesting Colt that should be further researched to the identity of CHV and Eddie Mort. Obtained by US from Wayne Mort and never out of factory since 1902.
