Colt Lightweight Commander semi-auto pistol, .45 ACP cal., nickel finish, factory class B custom scroll engraved and inscribed on left side of slide "George A. Strichman, Chairman of the Board, Colt Industries". Engraved bymaster engraver Bob Burt. Shipped to Colt Industries, 430 Park Avenue, New York, NY, for G. A. Strichman; shipped on July 13, 1977 to factory order 10301, one gun in shipment, special serial number GAS-1 with 0LWCbeneath it (number zero light weight commander). Under remarks the letter states G. A. Strichman served as Chairman of the Board of Colt from 1962-1987, he displayed the Colt industry's firearms collection atcorporate headquarters in NY along with his private collection. Subject pistol was produced for his private collection. The bulk of the Strichman collection was acquired by the Gene Autry Western Heritage Museumfor their Colt Gallery. The Autry Museum released to the collectors' market a number of guns purchased from the Strichman collection in the early 1990s, of which this pistol was one deasessioned. The pistol
