Colt Lightning 1877 storekeeper’s model, .38 caliber, blue and case hardened finish, early manufacture with one piece rosewood checkered grips and German silver front sight. Serial #26397, made 1878-79. Therevolver remains in very good original condition showing 40-60% original blue on barrel and cylinder, drifting on the left sides of the barrel with some scattered erosion and pinprick pitting just beginning.The etched panel is visible but light on the “A” and “38”. The barrel address is two lines and a factory short stamp for this barrel length. The frame shows good patent dates, the backstrap and triggerguard show 50%original thinning blue. The rosewood grips are very good plus with sharp checkering. The trigger and back of hammer show bright original blue. The original knurled cylinder pin is unmolested. There is some bright casehardening in the sighting groove on the top of the frame. The action is working well, the bore is good. A very nice lightning with desirable short barrel and early features.
