Colt House Model Cloverleaf Revolver
Made in 1871, the first year of production, and correctly fitted with the distinctive 4-round cylinder. (The cloverleaf has the distinction of being the first cartridge Colt). Half-moon front sight integral with the barrel, which is marked "COLT'S HOUSE PISTOL / HARTFORD CT U.S.A." in two lines flanked by Maltese crosses. The ejector rod is mounted in the cylinder pin and extends through a lug on the bottom of the barrel almost to the muzzle. Silver finished brass frame with checkered spur trigger and hammer. Smooth varnished grips, ending in a bird's head butt.

Gauge: 41 RF
Finish: blue/silver
Grips: walnut

Very fine, with 50% of the bright original high polish blue finish remaining. A mixed brown patina is visible on the high areas of the cylinder and speckled on the barrel, along with some light handling marks and spotting. Half of the original silver is present on the frame beginning to darken with age, with a mellow patina on the exposed brass. Grips are very fine, with light pressure dents and very little varnish loss. Action is excellent. This is a very fine example of a much sought after variation of the first true production metallic cartridge Colt revolver.
