Colt Government Model Semi Automatic Pistol with Original Box and Boxed 22 Conversion Kit
Produced in 1942 by serial number, but not completed until after World War II circa 1946-1947. The left side of the slide is marked with the two line, two block address/patent dates with the Rampant Colt in the center, the right side of the slide is marked "COLT AUTOMATIC / CALIBRE 45" followed by the Rampant Colt and the left side of the frame is marked with "GOVERNMENT MODEL" over the "C" prefix serial number. The left front upper trigger guard is marked "VP" and "R" and "49" on the opposite. Standard low profile fixed sights, matte finish on top of the slide, unmarked blue magazine and fitted with stag grips. Complete with the original maroon hinged lid box numbered to the gun with bore brush, manual and a War Department Basic Field Manual. Also comes with a complete boxed 22 caliber conversion kit with instructions.

Condition: Excellent with 99% finish remaining showing some minor high edge wear, a few light scratches and minor handling marks. The grips are excellent. Some of the markings are faint on slide, otherwise the markings are clear. Mechanically excellent. The box is fine with broken corners on the lid, a small piece missing, some peeling and flaking of the outer paper cover and some corner wear. The period replacement stag grips are both attractive and excellent. The conversion kit is excellent with 97% original finish showing some light scratches and scuffs on the matte surface, high edge wear and wear on the front side from normal usage. The box is very fine.
