'MK IV / Series '70' Single action semi-auto full-size 1911 pistol chambered for .45 Automatic Colt Pistol, manufactured circa 1980-1981 in Hartford, CT. The 'Series 70s' were produced from 1970- 1983, and approximately 3000 of the 'SM' serial prefix pistols were made in total. Pistol features a two-toned finish with the frame finished in electroless nickel, the slide is blued, 5" barrel, beveled magazine well, raised ejection port, smooth front strap, serrated arched mainspring housing, smooth extended 'beavertail' grip safety, serrated slide stop, serrated frame mounted safety, serrated hammer spur, solid serrated stainless adjustable trigger, fixed blade front sight with yellow dot, dovetailed notched rear sight (not original), short single-piece metal guide rod, checkered recoil spring plug, 'Series 70' style collet bushing, and two-piece checkered hardwood grips with silver-toned Colt medallions. Slide and grip safety have a blued finish with highly polished flats and matte contours, and the frame has a electroless nickel finish. The original blued finish retained is approximately 98% with a few light scattered scratches. The frame has superficial scratches. Metal displays no rust or deformation. The bore is bright with strong rifling, and the grips are very good with a couple of blemishes on the right grip panel leaving some low spots on the checkering. The action is smooth and crisp. The finish on the frame appears mottled, and it may be from the finishing process, not damage.
Condition is NRA Excellent.
