Colt Government Model Semi-Automatic Pistol, #C129792, .45 ACP cal., 5'' barrel, blue finish, factory checkered walnut grips, with what appears to be factory checkered trigger, frontstrap and mainspring housing. Delivered to Mr. Bommer at Shoverling, Daly & Gales, New York, NY, shipped Oct. 7, 1921. Although the factory letter makes no mention of the additionally checkered areas, they are accomplished exactly as known examples. Also a special factory order number was used. Condition is about fine retaining approx. 95%+ original factory blue, with thinning and wear at muzzle area of slide, and circumferential scratches from reassembly of slide stop to both frame and slide. Grips show mild flatterning. Action is silky smooth, bore is mirror bright. Possibly an early attempt at a Match grade pistol. Provenance: Harry Sefried, David Tate. Est.: $2,500-$4,000. (C&R)
