Colt First Model Dragoon percussion revolver, .44 cal., 7-1/2” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, wood grips, #4858. This gun is in overall good condition showing an even brown patina on the barrel and cylinder with scattered erosions and pin prick pitting, faint traces of cylinder scene remaining; frame and loading lever have also gone to an even brown patina with slight traces of case color and silvery finish mixed in; the bore is good, the markings are good including the “U.S.” under the “Colt Patent” on the left side of the frame, the barrel address and a number of inspector “P” stampings on metal parts and an “A” stamping on the trigger guard. The wood grips are worn but overall good with some slight worn losses at the corners, some nicks and mars from carry and storage and no visible inspector’s rectangular initialed cartouches although they may at one time have been there and are now worn off. Whether a Martial of Civilian First Model, this is a very presentable example of the Colt First Model Dragoon revolver. From the Richard Wolfe Estate. Est.: $4,000-$8,000.
