Colt First Model Dragoon, .44 caliber percussion, early US martially marked. Pre “fluck”, serial #1929. The barrel has been heavily cleaned and edges are somewhat rounded. Serial number other than “1” not legible on barrel. The barrel shows short lug, and correct address, which is fully legible. The ramrod is correct early type and matches the assembly number on bottom of barrel, which is correct to this period, and the ramrod is early type with a bulbous end, showing a replaced latch and catch. The cylinder shows some faint traces of scene. The number is visible. The cylinder has been cleaned also and shows some pitting and erosion. The frame shows good Colt’s patent and US marked almost at the center, which is correct for early Dragoons, and the frame also has been cleaned on the right side and recoil shields show some light to heavy pitting where not cleaned. The hammer shows some heavy pitting that has been cleaned. The backstrap and triggerguard show aggressive cleaning long ago and now are aging back. The grips are early slimjim type and are well worn with some dings and mars and are only fair to good. The mainspring is weak or broken, the action is working, the barrel is loose
