Colt First Model .41 Derringer
Manufactured between 1870 and 1890. German silver half-moon front sight and hammer notch rear sight. The top of the barrel is marked "COLT'S PT.F.A. MFG. Co. / HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." followed by " No1" flanked by Maltese crosses. Matching serial number on barrel and butt. The frame and sides of the barrel at the breech feature a broad scroll engraving with checkered spur trigger and hammer. The grip is iron, with shallow checkering on the sides and deep, sharp checking on the back.

Fine. The barrel retains nearly 20% original blue finish mainly in protected areas with the balance a smooth brown patina. The frame has been cleaned to a smooth silver-gray patina with some scattered pin point pitting. The engraving remains clear and crisp. Mechanically fine.
