Colt First Model .41 Derringer
Manufactured between 1870 and 1890. German silver half-moon front sight and hammer notch rear sight. The top of the barrel is marked "COLT'S PT.F.A. MFG. Co. / HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." followed by "No1" flanked by Maltese crosses. Matching serial number on barrel and butt, with "41 CAL" is stamped on the right side of the frame. The frame has a broad scroll engraving with a checkered spur trigger and hammer. The grip area is iron, with shallow checkering on the sides and deep, sharp checkering on the backstrap.

Good. Overall the derringer has a mottled gray patina with traces of original nickel finish in protected areas of the barrel. There is some scattered pin prick pitting. The barrel is loose, otherwise the action functions properly. The engraving and markings are clear.
