Colt First Model .41 Derringer
Manufactured from 1870 to 1890, this Colt First Model .41 Derringer features German silver half-moon front and hammer notch rear sights. The top of the barrel is marked with the standard address/model marking: "COLT'S PT.F.A. MFG. Co. / HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." followed by "No1" flanked by Maltese crosses. The serial number (3475) and two British "crown over letter" proofs are marked on the underside of the barrel. Beneath the barrel button release on the right side of the frame is the caliber marking ("41 CAL") and the letter "G" is present ahead of the trigger. The frame has light scroll engraving. The spur trigger and hammer are checkered. The grip area is iron, with shallow checkering on the sides, deep, sharp checkering on the backstrap, and the matching serial number repeated on the butt.

Fine. The barrel retains approximately 30% of the original blue finish mixed with smooth gray and brown patina. The frame has a smooth gray patina with some minor scratches. There are very light traces of plating around the barrel release button. The hammer and trigger retain minor traces of the niter blue finish. The markings and engraving are clear and crisp. The checkering is sharp.
