A desirable 'Series 70,' single action semi-automatic 1911 style pistol chambered in 9mm Luger, manufactured circa 1981 in Hartford, CT. The original "Commander" was a variation of the 1911A1 designed to meet the requirements of the post-WWII U.S. military contract. This in turn, outlined a lightweight 9mm pistol to be issued to officers. Featuring a blued finish with polished flats and matte contours, 4.25" barrel, low-profile serrated blade front sight, dovetailed square notch rear sight, solid smooth curved trigger, two-toned round skeletonized hammer, serrated hammer spur, serrated manual thumb safety on the left side of the frame, smooth extended grip safety with memory bump, serrated push button magazine release, factory 7 round magazine, steel frame, smooth front strap, serrated arched mainspring housing, and checkered two-piece walnut grips with gold-toned Colt medallions. The original blued finish retained is approximately 97% with edge wear, and a few light scattered scratches. Metal displays no deformation, but does show a very tiny spot of rust on the frame below the manual safety, and some in the rear sight's dovetail. Action is smooth and crisp, and the wood grips are excellent. The bore is bright with strong rifling. This pistol would be 'Near Excellent' without the observed rust.
Condition is NRA Good.
