Colt Cavalry Single Action Army Revolver, #82849, .45 Colt cal., 7-1/2'' barrel, blue and case hardened finish, with 1882 dated one-piece walnut grips inspected by John E. Greer. All matching numbered parts including barrel and grips. Frame and barrel with ''DFC'' sub-inspector markings. The original contract for these revolvers was dated August 18, 1882, and was for just 1000 revolvers. A good majority were converted into Artillery models with originally configured 7-1/2'' versions being quite scarce. Condition is about fine. Barrel, cylinder and straps retain 75%-80% original thinning blue. Markings remain crisp. U.S. to left side of frame is double stamped. Grips with clear cartouches with even thinning and small loss at left side near butt. Action is crisp, bore is fine. A fine all-matching example of a difficult-to-find unaltered Cavalry Model. Est.: $12,000-$18,000. (Antique)
