Manufactured in 1897. Of the 976 Bisley Target Model revolvers made, only six were made in .38-44 S&W caliber. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line address and the left side "(BISLEY MODEL) FOR 38-44 S&W CTG.". One would have to wonder why Colt would want to advertise there competitors name on one of their guns. The left side of the frame is marked with the two line, three patent dates followed by the circled Rampant Colt. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard and back strap. The loading gate is marked with the assembly number "118". The front sight is a removable brass blade adjustable for elevation and the rear sight is "v" notch dovetailed on the top strap. All blue finish with casehardened hammer and fitted with checkered hard rubber grips with the Rampant Colt in an oval at the top.

Condition: Very fine as partially refinished with 98% blue finish remaining on the cylinder with a light drag line and a few small light scratches. The remaining surfaces retain 70% original thinning blue finish with a smooth gray patina on the grip straps, loading gate and outer edge of the ejector housing. The grips have faded to brown and remain very good with a few minor dents on the bottoms and crisp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
