Colt Baby Paterson #4 with Ehlers-type lever, .28 caliber percussion, blue finish, varnish wood grips, serial #251. The Paterson remains in very good original condition showing 50-70% original blue, evenly toning to patina with some even losses at the edges and a small amount of erosion and pinprick pitting just starting. The cylinder retains 75-85% original scene that is light. The grips are good with approx. 30-40% original varnish, some even wear, and minor bumps, but at least very good overall. All matching serial numbers including the lever and wedge not serial numbered but correct Paterson wedge with considerable blue. The action is tight, interior is very good. The barrel address is legible but very light and shows “Patent Arms _____ Paterson N-J Colt’s Pt.” An absolutely original and unmolested Baby Paterson. Original inventory sheet from the Charles DuPont collection indicates purchase from Tom Lewis, noted dealer and collector, Evergreen CO, 1997. Est: $30,000 - $60,000
