Colt Baby Dragoon, .31 caliber percussion, scarce original 3” barrel, brown patina finish, varnish wood grips, serial number “4979”. The pistol remains in original good condition showing an untouched dark brown patina finish, light to moderate scattered surface pitting and erosion and a couple small areas of heavier pitting on the barrel and a few spots on the cylinder, there are some dings and mars, particularly on the top middle section of the barrel, but generally good with good sharp barrel address. The cylinder retains approx. 50-60% early scene, with small Colt’s patent stamp and number very crisp. The frame shows smoky grey, with some very faint case hardening within the patina. The backstrap and trigger guard show 30-50% darkened original silver plate that has gone almost black/blue in color. The original grips are at least very good with just some small losses, minor wear, and slight imperfections. The barrel has been reduced slightly to set on the pins. The edges are fairly crisp and generally good to very good overall with a nice untouched look. Charles DuPont inventory states purchased 1996 from noted Salt Lake collector Steve Evans. $3,000 - $6,000.
