Colt Artillery Model Single Action Revolver, #131968, .45 Colt cal., 5-1/2'' barrel, blue and case hardened finish, U.S. marked frame, cartouched walnut grips, with mixed parts, having twice been returned to the Colt Factory, as per factory letter. Originally shipped April 30, 1890, and returned to the Colt Factory Nov. 16, 1895, for conversion to Artillery Model. The revolver was later returned to the factory Aug. 3, 1903, and was then shipped to the Commanding Officer of the Springfield Armory. According to the Kopec letter, most of these revolvers were destined to be issued to our troops during the Philippine Insurrection, with yet others issued to the Philippine Constabulary forces. Barrel and cylinder are both unnumbered and were installed during the 1903 refurbishment. Rear of the cylinder, barrel and grips are marked ''RAC'' (Rinaldo A. Carr) as the primary inspector during the 1903 period. Condition is very good with light general overall toning to blue. Cylinder has thinned to approx. 60% with good solid color in flutes. Grips with general even smoothing. Action is crisp, bore is fine. Est.: $5,000-$7,500. (Antique)
