Colt Army Special in .38 special caliber, double action revolver, factory nickel plated with 6” barrel and Pearl grips serial number 332218 accompanied by period double loop holster, cartridge belt, come along, deputy sheriff badge with wallet, miniature address book, family photo, pocketknife all belonging to deputy sheriff C.A. Robinson of Socorro, New Mexico. Paul Fraissinet purchased this pistol in the late 1930s and used it at the famous Star Bar in Socorro, New Mexico which was an interesting hangout where Billy the Kid and other outlaws congregated at in the heart of New Mexico during the old West and well into the mid-20th century. Paul Fraissinet came from France and died in 1972 at the age of 92. The pistol was bought by Ron Peterson guns from Jean Fraissinet of Socorro, New Mexico in 2001 with Peterson’s receipt stating used by Paul at the Star Bar and also with 2 photos and addressed envelope to Sheriff Robinson. The pistol retains 50% to 60% original nickel evenly drifting intoning to gray metal with some light erosion and pinprick pitting just starting. The pearl grips are good with a couple minor chips and just normal aging. The finish is completely unpolished and natural. The trigger and back of hammer show 75% plus bright original fire blue. The action is good and the bore is very good. Gale Kennedy historical West collection. Est.: $1,500-$3,000.
