Colt Army Special .38 caliber double-action revolver, 4-1/2” barrel, high polish blue finish, hardrubber Colt grips with logo, serial #336729 with Ideal grips and shoulder stock. Refer The Book of Colt Firearms bySutherland, page 342. Originally patented by William P. Thompson and the Ideal Holster Company. An identical holster is pictured in the text on this page. This Army Special was manufactured approx. 1911 and retains 92-96%bright and inky blue finish with just some slight losses at the edges, a small amount of beginning normal age, an index line between the cylinder stops, and some slight scratches from attachment to stock on backstrap. Thegrips are fine to near excellent other than one small chip at the inner left toe at the attachment of stock. The markings are sharp, the interior is fine to excellent. The pistol remains in generally near fine condition.The shoulder stock shows most of its original blue finish on metal parts, leather is very good plus with slight scuffs, minor cracking.
