Colt Army Model 1909 .45 LC SN: 48793
Vintage U.S. military large frame double action service revolver chambered in .45 Colt, manufactured circa 1911. The model 1909 was an interim solution to the shortage of sidearms created by the trials for the 1911. All but 350 of the 19,503 contracted revolvers were sent to the Manila Ordnance Depot in the Philippine Islands. Features a blued finish, 5 1/2" barrel, blade front sight, "u" notched rear sight, smooth trigger, knurled hammer spur, fluted swing out six-shot cylinder, non-shrouded ejector rod, lanyard loop on the butt, and two-piece smooth walnut grips. All observed serial numbers are matching. Military marks: Barrel - "UNITED STATES PROPERTY", "P" & "R.A.C." Frame - "R.A.C.", "WGP" monogram, "U.S./ARMY/MODEL/1909" & "No/48/793". Grip Panels - "R.A.C." and Cylinder - "R.A.C." The left grip panel has a label attached that reads "W. A. FEGLEY/510 BYRAM STREET/READING. PA. 19606." Revolver retains approximately 80% of it's original blued finish showing light holster wear, thinning on the grip frame, and small scattered spots of pin prick pitting. Action is crisp with solid lock-up, the bore is pristine, markings are clear and the wood grips are very good+. Condition is NRA Fine. ***C&R Firearm***
