Produced early in the Single Action Army's lifespan, the 44 Henry Rimfire cartridge was already regarded as obsolete, resulting in poor domestic sales of the Rimfire Colt. In order to recoup their losses, Colt dumped the revolvers in Latin and South America, where harsh conditions and use destroyed most examples, and left the survivors in very poor shape. Fixed sights, with the one line address on top of the barrel, three line/three date patent markings on the frame, and matching numbers on the cylinder, frame and grip straps. The arm shows 80% coverage of fine custom scroll and punch dot engraving, with additional zig-zag accent and border work, extending even to the bull's eye ejector head. One piece ivory grips, with a raised carved design of an eagle consuming a serpent on the right side.
