Colt 2nd model square back Navy revolver in early production range, .36 caliber percussion, brown patina finish, varnished wood grips, serial number 1107. The metal surfaces have been professionally cleaned and re-browned and some numbers enhanced or sharpened. The revolver shows some pitting and was obviously deeply pitted when found and then restored. The barrel shows a small V notch sight fitted into the breach end of the barrel for better sighting. The varnished wood grips show an over coating of varnish or shellac and some losses at the edges with dents, mars, and losses. Several nipples have been crushed from heavy use. Also replacement screws and ramrod. The action is working. An affordable example of a rare and early gold rush era square back Navy that command extremely high prices when condition is retained.
