Colt 2nd Model 1851 Navy Revolver, #2551, .36 cal., 6-shot, 7-1/2'' barrel, blue and case-hardened finish, one-line New York address, original brass post front sight, naval engagement cylinder scene, silver-plated backstrap and triggerguard, small ''Colt's Patent'' to left side of frame, all visible matching serial numbers including wedge, with one-piece varnished walnut grips. Condition is about fine overall retaining approx. 10-20% thinning and toning finish to barrel assembly. Cylinder retains approx. 90% naval battle scene, with clear and sharp ''Colt's Patent No. 2551'' and Ormsby signature. Squareback triggerguard and backstrap retain approx. 90-95% original heavy silver plate. Case-hardened ramrod has toned to silvery gray, as has most of the frame. Original walnut grips fit well and retain approx. 90% original varnish with minor nicking. All safety pins are retained, one is slightly flattened. Action is crisp, bore is at least fine.
