Colt 2nd Generation Model 1851 Navy Percussion Revolver, with pasteboard box and sleeve, #10570, .36 cal., 7.5'' octagonal barrel marked on top flat ''Address Saml Colt New-York City''; round 6-shot cylinder is roll-engraved with naval battle scene and marked ''Colt's Patent No. 10570/Engraved by W.L. Ormsby New York'' in two lines parallel to bores, and ''Engaged 16 May 1843'' in tiny letters along its front circumference; case hardened frame is marked ''Colts/Patent'' in two lines on left side; matching hammer, lever and plunger; silver plated brass backstrap and squareback trigger guard; one-piece varnished walnut grips. Condition is mint and unfired, retaining 100% original black-blue finish, deep case colors, and silver with a black age patina. Grips with all original vanish and lovely grain and color. Action is crisp; cylinder and barrel bores are brilliant with full interior blue and deep rifling; cylinder is unturned. Original box with hinged lid is printed ''Colt's 1851 Navy'' on top with line drawings of gun, contains oiled paper, printed instruction manual and warning label; plain sleeve is fine. Nearly half-a-century old, these early Colt commemoratives are now quite scarce and desirable. Est.: $400-$600. (No FFL Required)
