Colt 1911 U.S. Army 45acp, serial #C106686. Factory skeletonized cut-away Ordnance Department Contract P-12836-2134SA, shipped by Colt to the School of Musketry, Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, on October 10th, 1918, three guns in shipment. Pistol shows 11 cut-away windows which display the internal springs and workings of the pistol, slide markings are reversed with the patent dates and addresses on the right side and U.S. markings on the left side. This particular pistol is pictured on Page 479 of Meadows' book, "U.S. Military Automatic Pistols, 1894-1920" and the consecutive serial number pistol which is at the Springfield Armory Museum is pictured on page 178 of Clawson's book "colt .45 Service Pistols". Colt Factory Letter included. 90% original blue finish, some scratches and beginning surface erosion, drifting at high points and edges due to handling, fine wood checkered wood grips.
