Near mint condition WWI era U.S. military contract single action semi-automatic service pistol chambered in .45 Auto. Manufactured in Hartford, CT circa 1918. Features a blued finish, 5" barrel, low profile round blade front sight, dovetailed rear sight with ‘u’ notch, smooth curved trigger, knurled wide hammer spur. thumb safety on the left side of the frame, grip safety, push button magazine release, 7 round two-tone magazine, heart-shaped grip openings in the frame, smooth straight main spring housing with lanyard loop, and double diamond checkered walnut grips. Markings: Slide - "PATENTED APR.20,1897. SEPT.9,1902/DEC.19,1905. FEB.14,1911. AUG.19,1913", [rampant colt], "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO./HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.", & "MODEL OF 1911. U.S. ARMY". Frame - "UNITED STATES PROPERTY", [Eagle Head]/"S5", & "No 412644". & Barrel: "P" and "H". Includes a factory letter stating it was shipped to Bush Terminal of Brooklyn, New York in a 10,000 gun shipment on August 19, 1918. Pistol retains approximately 99%+ of its original finish showing all correct factory polishing marks, some small scattered dings, a couple superficial scratches and two minute spots of pitting. The action is mechanically sound, the bore is pristine, the markings are sharp with a partial [eagle head] on the frame and the walnut grips are excellent.
