Colt Model 1877 Lightning Storekeeper's Model Double Action Revolver, without ejector, #106569, .38 Colt CF cal., 3.5'' round barrel marked ''Colt's Pt. F.A. Mfg. Co./Hartford, CT. U.S.A.'' in two lines on top, and ''Colt. D.A. 38'' on left side, 6-shot fluted cylinder, frame marked with three-line 1871-74-75 patent dates to left of an encircled ''Rampant Colt'' logo, originally blued and case hardened finishes, two-piece finely checkered dark brown hard rubber ''bird's head'' grips having the ''Rampant Colt'' logo in an oval relief panel at top. Mfg'd. 1897. Condition is very good to fine retaining approx. 50% barrel blue, thinning and darkening; cylinder with 20% thin and darkening blue and much blue in flutes; steel gripstraps retain approx. 90% blue on triggerguard and sides and top apron of backstrap; trigger with much original blue; case hardening on frame and hammer mostly a gunmetal gray color. Grips show smooth wear and clear details, fit perfectly and are without chips or cracks. Loading gate is correctly batch marked ''158'', screw slots are unblemished. Action is smooth in both single- and double action, bore is shiny with defined rifling. These ejectorless Lightnings employed their cylinder pin for removing spent cartridges. A nice Storekeeper's Model that will benefit with sympathetic cleaning. Est.: $400-$650. (Antique)
