Colt 1877 Lightning, .38 caliber double-action revolver, 4-1/2” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, hardrubber grips, factory roll die engraved “AM. EXP. CO. #636” sold to William Read & Co., Boston, Mass.Shipped to American Express Company, care of C. E. Seaton, purchasing agent, Chicago, IL. November 21st, 1900. 12 guns in shipment. Serial #12546, with factory letter confirming these features and engraving. The revolverretains 50-70% original blue and case hardened finish with good hardrubber grips showing some edge wear, good markings, good action, good bore, some light beginning erosion and pinprick pitting. The right rearof triggerguard bow shows a star for return to the factory, probably for small repairs as the finish is original. From the Robert Hoelscher Collection. Est: $1,750 - $3,500
