Colt 1871-1872 Open Top Model revolver, .44RF cal., 7-1/4” barrel, brass Navy sized trigger guard and backstrap, wood grips, #119. Overall fair + to good condition showing an even dark patina on metal surfaces with scattered light to moderate pitting; dark bore, good action, brass front sight worn down, wedge replaced and wedge screw head is missing; ejector rod is a replacement wood grips are overall good showing someshrinkage and a couple scratches and mars. The Open Top was the first gun manufactured by Colt for metallic cartridges; only approx. 7,000 were made between 1872 and 1873. Hard-to-find in any condition as many wereused hard on the frontier. Est.: $2,000-$4,000.
