Colt 1871-1872 Open Top Model revolver, .44 cal., 7-1/2” round barrel, nickel finish, wood grips, #3812. This gun is in overall good + condition showing approx. 20% of an old nickel finish with balance gone to a grey patina with some scattered spots of old pitting confined primarily to areas of the barrel, crisp action, very good bore, sharp markings, all matching visible serial numbers; good grips showing wear to thefinish from carry and handling as well as worn loss to wood at bottom of left grip consistent with having been worn in a right handed holster. A key model for any Colt collector, approx. 7,000 were manufacturedfor only two years (1872 and 1873) and was the first handgun Colt produced for metallic cartridges (not a conversion). Est.: $3,500-$7,000.
