Colt 1862 Police model. .36 caliber percussion revolver with 5 ½” barrel remaining in near fine original condition, serial number 21980. The revolver shows 80% to 90% bright original blue on the barrel and cylinder with some small areas offlaking and loss. The areas where the blue has lifted show some fine erosion and pinprick pitting that is very minor. The barrel address is sharp and crisp as are the edges of the entire pistol. The frame and hammer show 40% to 60% original case hardening that is toning with some beginning brown and light aging. The loading lever shows 60% to 80% case hardening with some very fiery rainbow colors. The silver straps show 20% to 40% silver going to a natural un-cleaned patina. Thegrips are very good plus to near fine with slight edge wear, minor marks and at least 80% varnish. The action is crisp and the interior shows almost no use with a bright bore. A strong 8 on a 1 to 10 scale suitable for placement in an original case. Est.: $3500-$7000
