Colt 1862 Police Model percussion revolver, .36 cal., 4-1/2” barrel, nickel finish, wood grips, #2342, inscription carved in grips “Presented to H.N. Rust by Lieut. Cooley, Antietam, Sept. 1862”; also accompanied by ablack leather civilian flap holster, a brass powder flask with two compartments in bottom for lead bullets and an unmarked two position iron bullet mold (one round/one conical); all pieces together in a local collectionsince 1949 when purchased near Lariby Street in West Los Angeles, California (before Hollywood). The gun is in overall very good to fine condition showing the majority of what is likely a 19th century factoryre-finish with fire blue treatment to screw heads, crisp action, good bore and very good grips; the holster is in overall good condition with some aging an slight cracking and great inked sentiment on inside of flap“Presented to H.N. Rust on the field of Antietam by Luiet (sp) Cooley of Norwich Conn”; flask shows heavy dark patina as does bullet mold. Consignor states this gun and accessories were purchased by his father, as
